Professionals who work with children and families often give continuously of themselves, yet the ongoing demands of high-needs work can lead to compassion fatigue and burnout. Please join Nilsa Ortiz, from Chicago Growth Mindset, who will describe the necessity of well-being and self-care as a biological and emotional requirement in our work and how nourishing it impacts our connection to daily life, our work and our relationships.
And Katey Baldassamo and Jeannie Contreras from West Chicago, District 33 will share their program's journey over the past 5 years of integrating ongoing workplace self-care with their staff and offer specific and practical strategies/activities that have enhanced the staff and their program to strengthen wellbeing in their personal and professional lives
The seminar will focus on how bringing balance to our central nervous system, in both individual and group opportunities, brings more presence, empathy, sustainability and a sense of purpose in our work with others. This seminar will be valuable for any leaders, staff, students or teams in social service, education or early childhood programs.
