Family Engagement as a Critical Protective Factor: Responsiveness During the COVID Pandemic and Beyond

Family engagement is a core component of systems supporting children and their parents/caregivers.  The COVID-19 pandemic highlighted and increased the need to engage with families and simultaneously made it more complex.  During this unprecedented time, many lessons were learned by those supporting young children and families that are meaningful to share and examine.  Researchers, Sarai Coba-Rodriguez and Callie Silver collaborated with a group of Illinois Head Start directors to qualitatively study the evolution of family engagement during the COVID-19 pandemic. This seminar will be an opportunity to learn about meaningful family engagement strategies that you can use in your own work to support children and families.
Gateways Contact hours, Early Intervention Credit and Social Work CEUs will be available for attending
      Presenters:
        • Sarai Coba-Rodriguez, PhD, CFLE: Assistant Professor, College of Psychology, University of Illinois Chicago
        • Callie Silver, PhD: Learning and Evaluation Associate, Stanford Center on Early Childhood
