Resilience-Based Interaction Model with Children: An Old Wine in a New Bottle

Resilience-Based Interaction Model (RIM) is an approach consisting of emotionally –responsive principles and techniques for adult’s behaviors and language during daily interactions with children, rather than a curriculum or series of lesson plans. The pilot and research are producing significant outcomes.  Currently designed for teachers, a parent version of RIM is in development.   Participants will learn about this innovative approach to promoting mental health and resilience in young children.

Mojdeh Bayat, PhD is a Professor of Child Development in the College of Education at DePaul University. An expert in the education of children with mental health issues and/or developmental disorders, Bayat is the author of several articles and books including Teaching Exceptional Children Addressing Challenging Behaviors and Mental Health Issues in Early Childhood, and more recently, Positive Interactions with At-Risk Children: Enhancing your Students’ Well-Being, Resilience and Success.
